Materials:

Clay, salt water, silt, aged mangrove shoots, barnacles, twine, and Toe toe. Recordings from wetland and a responsive guitar melody.

Abstract:

Interested in the buried life laying beneath the mud plain of the wetland. The Ayrlies Wetland located in Whitford New Zealand links to the waters of the Hauraki Gulf. Artist Britney Saywell works responsively through modes of conjectural recording. Audio work ‘Unearthed Commotions’2023 is an attempt to house compressed melodies of dead objects and inanimate deaths. This Installation is the fifth iteration to the landscape. Over the last year Britney has been in speculative conversation with the wetlands.
